I would say you're doing things right. One of my little dogs was abused when only a puppy and was left shut in a garden shed for the first few months of her life - the nervousness and timid behavious has never left her, even eight years on, and we're always aware of how things can stress her out so easily, so we try not to use raised voices around her (everyone has to have the odd argument though!) and we do our utmost not to startle her. She is so very well behaved though, so we've never really had to deal with correcting bad behaviour, other than she is very possessive when it comes to her toys, and smacking or any other dominance towards her has not had to be an issue. I think the firm voice and sending to the basket/cushion is the best way forward. Funny how they are out to please you - so they dont like the firm voice, seen as being told off and in bad books.

Why is it "bad" that my husband works in a restaurant?

So, my "wonderful" extended family is having a BBQ for the 4th, and everyone is invited! Except for me and my husband, of course. When it's JUST family, we are always invited, but when people outside the family are present (people to impress!), we are not included in a vary blatant way. My family fits the bill of "affluent conservative republicans" to a T. I am the little, unspoken "black mark" on my family tree because I grew up and married someone I loved, not for the money. The very same reason my parents were outcasts for many many years (my dad married a woman who wanted to be a housewife instead of a lawyer! Gasp!). The whole issue is about the fact my husband is happy working in a restaurant, and I'm happy working retail part time. It would be generous to say we earn half of what the next lowest earning member of my family does combined, yet somehow, were the only one of my "generation" (my cousins and second cousins) who have never had to ask for monetary help. We don't have 3 brand new Mercedes in the driveway, but we've also never carried debt, have an actual savings account, and actually have time to spend together after work and on weekends. We budget our money well, and while we don't have luxuries like tv, we do save on our gym memberships by taking hikes and going camping all the time (much better than any tv in my opinion). Our jobs are low stress, and we leave work where it belongs- at work! We live simply, and that's how we like it. We are adults, taking care of ourselves just fine, I just don't understand why we are so embarrassing. My cousin and his wife spent so frivolously after getting married, they went from a few thousand in student loan debts to the verge of declaring bankruptcy in 3 years. One cousin works for a big law firm, and I wouldn't be shocked if he's doing something a little more than unethical to advance as fast as he has past more qualified people (he couldn't even pass the bar!). My husband gets the brunt of the negativity, since he is the man of the house. He's not selling crack to kids, he works a honest, normal job. My family has done many shameful things over many generations, I don't think the guy who is hard working and tries his best to always do the right thing is the problem here. It just makes me so angry we can't be seen by their friends. .I'm tired of their bulls***, and I'm thinking this really is the final straw, and we will probably just cut contact with them. This has been going on for years, and I'm just so fed up. I mean, what would you do with a family like this? It's not my parents, it's my aunts and uncles and cousins. Over my entire life, none of us have ever really gotten along anyways, I just don't see any point in talking to these people anymore. My moms side is very close, and not part of the problem, but my dads side, I just don't care about. What would you do?

the latter. i think your friend is wrong in what he's saying. not literally, but i think he meant that it looked cocky, but he knows you didn't do it to show off. your boss isn't going to fire you over this, but it did take a hefty toll. the time wasted, probably 30 min, could have been used more conveniently. it really depends on how impatient your boss is. from a scale of 1 to 10: 1 being that he's so patient that it's actually causing problems, like you're skipping days of work and come back with no excuse, and you still are below the line. 5 being that he's a little overly impatient, like a few packages disappear with out a trace, and your not supposed to be watching it, and he fires you. 10, well you know, like someone drops his coffee and he's fired. it depends, but in case, start looking for another job, vaguely though. keep your hopes up, he probably won't fire you.

Just a quick question regarding carp bait.?

Hi, I live near Lake Michigan and as a lot of you probably already know the carp in there are large and plentiful and given a certain amount of patience they are willing biters. I just have one problem. I've been using a commercial bait called "Uncle Josh Carp Bait" There's no doubt it's a good bait because it's bright colored, releases scent into the water nicely and it's easy to form into a dough-ball but the particular container of bait I bought was pretty soft and it's very hard to get it to stay on the hook. On the back of the tub it says that if the bait is too soft to mix it with fine dirt. I might try that as a last resort but in the mean time I'm searching for alternate methods. Does anybody know how to make an affective homemade carp bait that's nice and firm? You know, soft enough to be appealing to the fish but firm enough that it will stay on the hook with ease and withstand intense casting? Not that this is too huge a problem but I'm also looking for a bait that's appealing to carp but also something that those annoying nibbling sunfish will ignore and not destroy. Is there also a way that I could maybe keep the bait I already have on the hook easier? Maybe I should use regular bread dough, it seems pretty strong, would it work? Are carp attracted to large night crawlers? I know they work for catfish and they are almost guaranteed to stay on the hook but the sunfish and gobies would probably tear them up before the carp ever got to them. Well anyway thanks, I'm hoping to head out to the marina in again today so if there's a bait I could prepare in just a few hours that would be nice. Dracaena plant wilting after fixing over-watering problem?

I noticed this morning that my dracaena was wilting. I looked up the characteristics it showed (wilting, yellow bottom leaves mainly) and the water was moist after days of not watering it. I suspected that it had been over watered so I took it outside and planned on digging it up but really it slid right out of the soil with a gentle pull. It had been standing in water for the last few days. I looked up what to do with an over watered plant and then followed the directions of letting the soil dry out and cleaning the soil out from the roots. I even checked the larger roots and trimmed what didn't fit the category of "healthy" roots. I checked the trunk and it still feels firm rather than a possibly-rotted hollow feel. I set it in the shade (but still 91F weather) for around 30-40 minutes and then decided that the soil dried enough for a re-pot. It's still moist but not soaking like it was. I put the wetter soil at the top and left it outside a little longer to dry out some more. I went outside to check on it and the leaves are all wilted now and the tops of the branches aren't standing upright any longer, they're hanging over to the sides and just look unhealthy. I brought it inside and closed my window in case it's gotten too much sun. What should I do?

If you have not done so try different ammo. 22 lr semi auto's are typically picky on what ammo they shoot well. I have found that cci mini-mags work in most 22's. If it still doesn't work with different ammo then call marlin and explain the problem. If its a new gun they will fix it.

Clownfish major health problems please help he is about to die!?

I have a 29 gallon biocube tank. It was overstocked with too much fish so I removed them all but the cleaners. I added an Ocellaris clown cleaner shrimp and powerhead the day I got rid of everything else. It murked up my tank really bad and I thought it would get better soon It is my first tank I know the harm of detritus. This was last week. The clownfish swam weird. I noticed it on the first dayI added him hours after acclimation. He had his back fin messed up. the one he uses to swim. He had one big red vein showing. He stayed in the top near the surface. I did about 7 gallons of water changes that weekend and ran out of dechlorinator. I only have my permit so I cant drive myself and no one can take me to the store for a week now! I called my LFS and he said to turn off the tank lights cause the water looked greenish and said it could be algae. This worked in clearing up the tank a bit after four days with no light, I turned them on today and in horror saw that EVERY VEIN in the clownfishes tail was red and I could see them!!! I nearly had a panic attack. In the tank, there are also a small yellow watchman goby, a small pistol shrimp, and a small cleaner shrimp. THey all look fine!!! What is wrong with my poor clownfish? I lost my test kit, and have been stressed all week about finals. I am really scared! I feed the tank a pinch of food every night sometimes two pinches and sometimes a small krill near the pistol shrimp cave. I know the water quality may be out of wack but I can't fix it!!!If I do get a ride to the store, it will cost me. The factory scope mount on the side of your saiga is the best option for mounting optics in my opinion, and there are many options available to slide right on that thing. The military surplus scopes for sniper rifles all the way to rocket launcher fit the same way and they come off and on with almost none if any loss of "zero". POSP scopes can be had for around 100 to 200 dollars and there are a few different magnifications. As far as cheap ammo goes, a saiga in 5.45 is around 400 shipped, shoots ammo that can be had for around 15 cents a round, where 5.56 or .223 is 35 to 40. Yes the cheap 545 is corrosive but cleaning the rifle should be part of owning the thing and taking care of your tools like a man! 17hmr is 15bucks for 50 average price and that is comparable to 22 mag in price and performance. All my humble opinion, I hope it helps.

Conundrum about finishing wood floors?

My husband and I are trying to decide whether or not to bother refinishing the wood floors in our 3 small bedrooms. Right now you can hardly tell what condition they're in because of the area rugs we have. If we got them finished, we'd just be putting the rugs back down so it seems pointless to me. However it may be easier to do it now rather than in 5 years when we have kids in the house. We also want the carpet in our LR pulled up to have the floors underneath finished but not right now- should we wait and do all the floors at once? Is the GSG-5 worth buying?

So recently I had the opportunity to fire a full automatic HK MP5 chambered in 9mm x 19. There aren't really a ton of words to describe how fantastic of an experience it was. Now I feel like I have to have one. Unfortunately they are ridiculously expensive, as they should be, obviously. As an alternative I have come across the GSG (German Sport Guns) 5, which is effectively an identical copy of the HK MP5, but without the selective fire capability (only shoots semi-automatic) and is chambered in 22 LR as opposed to 9mm. I mean it looks like a well-built alternative, and I have read plenty of good reviews for the GSG, but I just don't know if it is really worth buying. I'm not looking to defend my home with this firearm it will just be something fun to take with me to the range. I'm just looking for some advice from someone who has held the GSG, or better yet fired one. Help!

Should the firing pin in my Ruger 10/22 be hitting the edge of the shell casing?

I went shooting this week and noticed that the firing pin is hitting the edge of the shell casing i am using Remington .22 LR Rimfire Ammunition and i take it the whole butt of the shell is the primer. At the very edge of the casing is being nicked to set off the round is this normal? I just bout this about 2 weeks ago and have only shot it 2 times and i have noticed it both times. When i looked at my dads 40 cal SW it had a primer in the middle. My Grandpas 30/30 also had a primer on the butt. I don't know if this is normal or not for a Ruger 10/22 to do that or not.
