Will a barrel attachment for a colt 10/22 fit a ar 15 .22 lr?

I like the barret .50 cal flash guard at the end of the barrel. I cant find one for me ar15 .22lr but i was told by a gun smith that one for a ruger 10/22 would fit and just screw on. Is this correct and can i get someone to verify that this will work. Or know where to get one for my ar15 .22lr specifically. thanks.
